I need help getting the latest version of the drivers and control panel for an Envy24GT sound card. The ones on Via Arena are giving me problems.
I bought a Dynex soundcard about a year ago and used it successfully in an old PC running Windows 2000. The card came with Via Envy24 drivers, and I've since determined it is an Envy24 GT. Meanwhile, the original drivers disk has gone missing.
Yesterday, I transferred the card to a new computer running Windows Vista Home Premium (32-bit). I downloaded the indicated drivers from Via Arena (Envy24_Family_DriverV540a). Installation failed with these messages:
- "String PRODUCT_NAME was not found in string table"
- "String VMS_SCFMULFile_Name was not found in string table"
- "String VMS_DLL_Name was not found in string table"
- "Sorry, some importand files of this package are missed. Please download the package again to contact with the service provider. Please press OK to teminate the setup wizard"
Following this attempt and another download that gave the same results, I let Vista find the drivers for the card. It downloaded (from somewhere) the driver "Envy24 Family Audio Controller WDM," dated 3/15/2007, version 5.12.1.3652. This driver works, but
- it is apparently not the most current driver, according to the dates and versions on Via Arena
- it did not install, or I cannot find, the Vinyl Control Panel
I would like help in getting these issues resolved so I can get the most out of my investment in this card.
Thanks in advance!
