Default Looking for PCI USB2.0 VT6212L for Vista

I need to buy a PCI USB 2.0 Hub with the VIA chipset VT6212L.
I will need to install it on a machine running Windows Vista.
So far I find available devices but not supported on Vista.
I did find one for the VT6212 chipset but I don't know if that is equivalent to VT6212L.

Can someone help please?

The OS is Vista as mentioned in the title.I've also got a problem with this card under Vista 86. The card installs fine and is recognized as a VIA rev5 or higher USB Adapter, however it works on 1.0 rather than the advertised 2.0 ?!? how can that be? with every single USB2 device i plug in Vista is saying that the device can work faster if plugged in a 2.0 port.

This is a Standard Vista SP1 install without any driver tampering. is the adapter not identified properly and do i need to select another device? or what needs to be dne to make this thing work as a 2.0 device. There are no Vista drivers for this chipset on the net anywhere.

USB drivers are built into Vista which supports the VT6212L chip.

Raphie

Try un-installing all the USB drivers in the device manager and re-boot it should load the right drivers. Let us know what happens. What drivers are showing in the device manager, none with USB 2.0 controller.

VIA Vectro VT6212L - 4-port USB 2.0 Host Controller - VIA Technologies, Inc.

Thanks for your reply and suggestions. I removed the current devices via the Device Manager and restarted Vista.

Vista now detects the following:
2x VIA Rev 5 or later USB Universal Host controller
1x VIA USB Enhanced Host Controller

Each instance has 1 USB Root Hub attached.
2x VIA Rev 5 or later USB Universal Host controller Root Hub has 2 ports of each 500mv operating at full speed (according to the device manager)

The 1x VIA USB Enhanced Host Controller has a Root hub with also 4 ports.
looking for updated drivers via the device manager tells me that I already got the best driver for my device.

The VIA USB Enhanced Host Controller is the device which reflects the 4 ports on the back of the PCI card. when I plug in devices they cascade under this device it's root hub ib the Device Manager.

However USB 2.0 devices still trigger the "Can go faster if connected to a 2.0 port" message
I am abit lost now....

Raphie,

Sometimes the USB cable, by which you attach a device to the USB port, can cause this "you can go faster if..." message. If you have another cable, try it to determine whether the cable is the problem.

I've seen many people post complaints about this same issue in various forums. Some people think the message could be triggered by some glitch in the system, in which case it's a false message.

Freddie
