Unhappy Windows Media Player full screen controls missing.

Hi,
I am facing a problem with windows media player in Windows Vista ultimate where I am no longer able to see the full screen contols when I play a video or music in full screen. Usually in windows media player there is a bar at the bottom, where you can play/pause/ mute ect in full screen mode, but this is no longer displayed.

I have a HP mini-note with the VIA Chrome9 HC IGP intergrated graphics chipset.

I have tried installing different driver versions and the situation is the same in all of them. I also uninstalled the graphics drivers to see if they were causing the problem and was able to see the full screen controls in windows media player.

If anyone can help me in anyway that would be great. Any suggestions would be apprieciated.

Thanks

If you use F11 to toggle between full screen and normal the tool bar will disappear on full screen until you move your mouse then the tool bar should reappear. Its an auto hide toolbar.

Right clicking in media player should also give you the tools menu.

Hi,
I am able to get into full screen mode by pressing f11 but when I move my mouse around the full screen contols do not appear.
I have tried to enable them via the options> performance> dvd and video playback> display full-screen controls, but it doesn't work.
After I click apply and ok, I played a video in full screen and the controls still didn't appear.
The other thing to mention is that after closing and restarting windows media player the settings do not seem to have saved, as when I return to the dvd and video playback options, the display full-screen controls option is not ticked!

Another strange thing to note is that when I am playing a video in full screen, if I left click once, the playback is paused, and then if I click again it starts. The full-screen controls never appear even if I keep moving my mouse around!

Ok, thanks for you help. Any suggestions or help will be appricaiated,

Lawrence

In media player use the check for updates and see if helps. It will check MP and its components.

Has MP always had this problem or has it just started. You might have to e-mail MS about it.

Hi,
I have always had this problem with windows media player when I install the Via graphics software. I have done a clean install of windows and was able to see the full screen contols before I installed the VIA graphics software.

I don't think Microsoft will want to help as it isn't really their problem, it has to do with the Via software I think..

Ok thanks again.

Hi,
The model number is FH441PA. It comes preinstalled with windows vista buisness SP1, although I have wiped it clean and installed vista ultimate (SP1 with all the latest updates). I also faced the same problem in windows vista buisness so I think it's safe to say that it's a vista problem in general.

Ok hope that helps.

Thanks
