It seems i would only be missing out on Windows Aero and Media Centre (Features that may appeal to me out of the rest). Id be happy with WMP and as for Aero, its just to make the desktop look all sparkly rite?

Your gaming will be fine, and yes Aero does make the desktop much nicer to look at, but also not really needed. WMP is very nice if you happen to watch DVD on your PC, or even for photos and music.
Go ahead and intall basic, and at some later time you can always upgrade to Home Premium. Dont use that upgrade anytime crap, I did it and its a waste of money. Just buy Home Premium off the shelf when/if you decide to.

i wont need to use it, i found out i can buy Vista like 80% cheaper becuase im a student haha! Its cheaper then the Anytime upgrade

Also would u reccommend a clean install or "upgrade install" (if it exists?)

Thats really good!!

I just want to say Mike that only upgrade to Vista if you really feel like you want to try it. XP is still a solid OS, and you will not really gain any new features other then DX10 support with Basic. So its your call.

Yeah thats what im thinking , i wont gain very much out of it, and ill have to sort out my drivers and stuff so it can be a hassle :P ill think about it. Possibly just a better idea to wait till i get my hands on Premium :P
