DEViANt is on a distinguished road
Default Trying to install vista.

Hey i'm having a problem installing vista onto my computer. I am using a "Gigabyte GA-K8V Ultra-939" motherboard and a Western Digital 500gig sATA HDD.

I have had it installed with no problems before on a 250gig Segate HDD but for some reason the installation will not detect my new HDD.

I have downloaded and tried the latest sATA drivers from the VIA website but it still gives an error about not being the right drivers.

Can anyone give a hand on the situation.

DEViANt

Are you installing 32 or 64 bit Vista? Can you list the version of VIA drivers you are using?

I guess you need RAID drivers for instance.

Drworm long time not see, what happen to ur original acc?? K...back to ur question, is sata enable in bios? Fyi if the Serial ATA controller supports RAID, (which i assume it does judging at your mobo specs) you may need to define your drive in a RAID Array before Windows will see the drive, even if the motherboard or system drivers are being loaded correctly. This still must occur even if you are installing a single drive. Btw how many hd are in ur system, what i would suggest is to install sata drive first say if u have a ide drive as well, once u finish get the sata drive recognised then plug in the ide drive
