KT400 Vista and Radeon 9600 AGP
This driver u will install is made for XP but works ok(u can see that has even WHQLin Vista although is made for XP) in VISTA for me ,u may also update the ide driver with the same method just unzip the 5.11,5.12 & 5.13 packages and search for the Mini ide driver folder and navigate to NT5 folder tru the have disk method and pick from there the inf file and follow same procedure like in VIA CPU to AGP case.
The routine in Vista is not normal but u can install the Inf driver from the VIA wizard and the other 2 drivers with have disk method, for me its ok.U can get from the mobo manufacturer the package for better compatibility ,they usually adjust the drivers here and there.
If u have luck with the video driver to be good u will be able to use Vista.
If under Vista u observe video driver issues Vista telling u that video driver has reseted u can try to solve the problem by stopping the updates in the services panel.Make a clean install stop the Auto update service to even start up.U need to do that because only turning it off from the usual interface will not stop that service critical updates will still install without your knowledge.
For my Nvidia card stopping windows updates was a good thing because with every update the nvklm... issue appeared often and often.Dont worry the "video driver stopped responding.. "appears on many configurations with new hardware and appears with nvidia,s3 etc video chipsets.U just need some luck.
Try the Vista without the updates see how it works.
