What make and model is the motherboard? Have you tried looking for a bios update?

Vista Ultimate Reinstall RealTek 8185 Wireless everytime
I wonder if this could be related to the " PCI-PCI bridge reinstall........" issue? Chris.

lolindirfab,
A corrupted infcache.1 file can cause the problem you're having. Use google to search on "infcache.1" to see the instructions for handling this situation. For example, take a look here:
http://www.texxors.com/2007/05...n-adding-a-new-device/
This information may or may not resolve your problem, but it does no harm to try. There are other sites as well. The above site is just one example.

Are you sure that's a correct chipset, as the only Yahoo match for that is this thread!

Ah it's the motherboard!!
Just looking at this board on MSI's website and it indeed includes the 8237A southbridge chip that causes this problem in Vista. You do have the re-install issue.
Thankfully for you this is an MSI motherboard (like mine) and a BIOS fix will cure it, and MSI have proberbly already got an updated BIOS out. Open up a tech support ticket with them and see what the say. See the PCI bridge reinstall thread in this very forum for more info on this.

lolindirfab,
I wonder why the infcache.1 file becomes corrupt in the first place. Perhaps Microsoft can find some fix to prevent that situation from happening. That file has caused a lot of trouble for people. Hint, hint, Microsoft. However, I have no way of knowing what the fix for this problem should or could be. I'm just an informed user.
Even so, removing the infcache.1 file doesn't always fix the "driver reinstall and driver recognition" issues that some people have. It seems that there are other causes for those issues, as well. I learned about the infcache.1 fix from visiting various forums. I like spending time hanging out at tech forums.
