It should work but one thing to take note of as vista is memory hungry, you should get at least 1g or 2g of ram or else u would face lag or slow startup.

Default Asus A8V Deluxe vista compatible??

Thanks for your reply.

I'm currently running with 3GB of ram, so i got it covered on that end.

I've done some searching and found lots of people having problems getting the onboard raid controller (Promise 20378) working in vista. Anyone have any insight on this issue?

Its best to look up Promise web site and see if they do Vista drivers for your controller.

Promise does supply vista drivers for the controller, but unfortunately they are not fully compatible with the onboard-controllers. Hence, they are explicitly made for Promise own expansion cards (pci-type). The onboard controllers use a different bios i heard.

Although, it is possible to force a install of those drivers and they do work, but give an incredibly slow transfer rate, ~ 1-3 MB/s.

Default Asus A8V Deluxe vista compatible??

Hey Xaim,

Thought I would pass on some advise as I stumbled upon your post looking for help with USB speeds. I run vista 32 bit on the a8v deluxe with a athlon64 3000+ and 1 gb ram with a 9800 pro ati card. This seems underpowered for vista, but I can run it with no problems. I can still play games and run multiple applications without any slowdown. Intensive programs like photoshop while multitasking can take some time to switch between programs ( like 30 seconds max) but other then that she runs fine, which is great because I didn't want to upgrade anytime soon.

Default Asus A8V Deluxe vista compatible??

I just bought a A8V deluxe 2.00
I am currently using a A7N8X and XP3200 with Vista Ultimate.
It runs good but I cant imagine the A8V being slower.
I see VIA has better drivers than Nforce, Nvidia left me in the cold with nf2 and nf3, shame.
Now I'm back to Via, my last was a KT600 that was very good, I am looking forward to the KT800Pro

Unfortunatelly furthermore VIA chipsets for newer AMD & Intel processors will not be available,VIA will concentrate on VIA C7 platform.
As for Vista nforce2/3/4 drivers if Nvidia wasnt able to suply them in the official way you can find on Guru3D site excellent drivers made even for Vista. For example i was using, after building a computer with an Nforce 2 ,the 5.10 drivers and guess what, on GURU 3D i found drivers leaked or beta stable integrated into the Remix drivers package.Under XP the unoficial drivers from Guru 3 D offered me an increase in Aquamark 3 from around 28000 points(with the 5.10 package)to 33000 points with latest drivers usable on nforce 2(some of them even from 2006 oposed to 2004 from the official package).
Indeed VIA had an excellent driver package that works even on Vista although was made for XP(the AGP or IDE drivers are good examples).
The ASUS board should run Vista, but the stability its a question of luck with Vista ,any driver or hardware issue means TDR s or crashes.
