Default PCI-PCI Bridge re-install on every cold boot

Hi,

I have recently installed Vista Business edition. Here are my experiences, drivers vise, so far:

1- I have t installed the latest VIA Drivers Here comes the problem, drivers install ok the first time but upon every cold boot, VIA drivers(PCI-PCI Bridge) get automatically re- installed by Vista which I have no idea why?

2- Creative X-Fi drivers. Problem: I installed them from Creatives' site (Beta ones) they install OK. But then again, upon every cold boot only, they get to re-install automatic by Vista.

Why do you think? Is it because VIA and Creatives' non-official drivers or something else to do with it?

Thanks.

PS: I am reading now that many people have this issue....wonders why...!!!!

Default PCI-PCI Bridge re-install on every cold boot

Hi.

I've also got this problem. I'm running Vista Home Premium 64-bit edition.

I've tried MSI's tech support (who gave up with no solution as they couldn't source my soundcard!) and also MSI's forum, but no luck. It seems no-where on the web (including Microsoft) has the solution .... yet! It's very annoying to reset up the soundcard on every boot.

I don't think it is the Creative drivers, as I'm using the released Audigy drivers. Though to be fair everyone who I've seen having this issue are using Creative products (how is the X-Fi connected to the PC, as I have never seen one! Internally or externally?).

Well, it is connected via PCI. So I will end up changing the M/b to 690G chipset or similar. Go figure this board is "Vista Certified" ......once again wonders why!!....

Maybe something that disagrees between Vista and it's new way of accessing the PCI bus, Creative and the VIA chipset. Surely more people have this combination of hardware/software? So why isn't there either a fix or a workaround?

On the MSI K9VGM-V there are only options for PCIe (which was set as default on my machine) and PCI. I assume IGD (Integrated Graphic Device) is disabled on this motherboard when no device is connected to it! Switched to PCI and will see what happens when I next fully reboot (as I'm only hibernating at the moment)

Shame to have got rid of it as I think I have fixed my machine!

I've installed the BIOS given to me by MSI tech support, changed the boot-up graphics device in the BIOS to PCI (from the default PCI-e, even though it is a PCI-e card!) and updated the chipset drivers the the latest VIA drivers. Just did a cold boot and no re-installion!
