PCI-PCI Bridge re-install on every cold boot
Hehe!I ve told u man, they don t care, they sell so much to new users that they don t care loosing few because of their doubtful support. But sooner or later the users will observe their behaviour and they will switch to other better vendor like MSI.MSI link to the future indeed.

PCI-PCI Bridge re-install on every cold boot
Specially as this is a major problem, and will be as more people upgrade to Vista.
The old customer service addage 'If you're happy with a company you tell 5 people, unhappy and you tell 10' will come into play - and if it does they'll lose MANY customers.
Incidentally, does the UK magazine PC Plus still have it's Campaign section? I used to be a subscriber but stoppped buying it because I didn't have the time or money.

PCI-PCI Bridge re-install on every cold boot
I did a little looking around and discovered that Foxconn released a BIOS update back in November 2006 for this problem. Here is the link: http://www.foxconnchannel.com/...2H&TypeID=en-us0000003 if you goto the bottom of the list you find the BIOS update for the problem.

PCI-PCI Bridge re-install on every cold boot
I have fixed the problem for myself. My new Asrock came today. I don't care for some of the layout of the board, but it works without a hitch. Goodbye ASUS. The BIOS has so many choses that it is going take me a while to figuring the for the best performance.

PCI-PCI Bridge re-install on every cold boot
MSI K9VGM-V.
I use this board (with an Athlon 64 x2 but it can use a single-core aswell) and apart from the re-installing issue (which is now FIXED in BIOS version 1.6) I have no trouble with it.
You may want to check the RAM though as it only support DDR2 RAM.

PCI-PCI Bridge re-install on every cold boot
Hi there again,
well I have been experimenting since I last posted and have refined my method of dealing with the reinstalling of drivers.
I also found that it wasn't adding cards to the pci slots that made the problem reappear but turning off the power in order to install the cards, so installing pci cards does not cause the problem.
So to get rid of the problem shut down the computer, wait a few seconds then restart, hit delete when setup has loaded go to exit then exit and save, don't bother to let the computer boot up hold the start button in and shut down, after a few seconds restart , hit delete, go to exit but this time highlight "set to default" then save and exit ,this time let the computer boot up and hopefully everything will be working as it does for me.

PCI-PCI Bridge re-install on every cold boot
Same problem here on ECS PT890T-A and Vista Ultimate 32. In my case, the HD audio drivers and the PCI bridge get reloaded at every cold boot.
I have sent a ticket request to ECS support for a BIOS update. Any other workarounds other than hibernate/sleep?

I wonder if Spartus4 realizes that Asrock is the low end brand name of Asus? At least his new board works. Chris.
