PCI-PCI Bridge re-install on every cold boot
DeathRO, it's good to see you've solved your issue and even better that it's an nVidia issue rather than anything more serious! I'll keep in mind what version of Forceware to use when or if I next install Vista.
And again, one thing I'd like to ask - does your motherboard produce the same issue as we have here, with the PCI-to-PCI Bridge reinstalling every time you start your computer up? Your motherboard shares exactly the same chipset and southbridge as we who are having the issue, and we've tracked this as the source of the issue.
Thanks,
Peter

PCI-PCI Bridge re-install on every cold boot
I have this issue once in a while. But lately I'm not having it... haven't done anything in special, just recovered my PC to a previous state due to problems with my GeForce8600GT, which still remain (after some minutes of 3D gaming, the screen freezes but the sound goes on).
I'll warn you if I get these PCI reinstall issues!
My rig is:
Athlon X2 4400+
VIA M2V mobo
2GB Kingston RAM DDR2/667MHz
nVidia GeForce 8600GT 256MB DDR3 (PCI-E)
on a Windows Vista Ultimate x64

PCI-PCI Bridge re-install on every cold boot
Which issue is this? The PCI reinstall issue or the NVidia graphics one?
If it is the Nvidia graphics one can you please start a new topic for it as running 2 different problems in one thread gets confusing!!!

PCI-PCI Bridge re-install on every cold boot
I was having both: the PCI and the nVidia
But the nVidia still remains, the PCI haven't returned (at least not yet)
I'm sticking just to the PCI here, I'm at nVidia board, but they're not solving it, which sux.

Thought I'd advise you all that Microsoft has released a Windows Update through the service of the same name which aims to improve compatibility and reliability with graphics card drivers, especially nVidia, so I suggest all of you on Windows Vista run and download the update (5.7MB, fixes some other issues too).
Peter

PCI-PCI Bridge re-install on every cold boot
On one of these pages is a long post by Pitr52 which includes an email he received from his associate at Microsoft. Copy it and paste it into a correspondence for your motherboard maker (VIA made your motherboard? I didn't know they produced them themselves!) either be emailed technical support or by opening up a service ticker (whichever one they prefer). With that information they would be able to produce an updated BIOS for you to try.

PCI-PCI Bridge re-install on every cold boot
Unfortunatelly the said patch doesn't solve my nVidia problem. It didn't solve anything, in fact! Hahaha
Thanks either way

Danzoc, Andy is right, Asus makes the M2V mainboard. It does have a VIA chipset, tho. Now you are in the same " holding pattern " as Peter. *sigh*. Chris.

If it is the plain valilla M2V board then Danzoc, you're in luck - this board is on the Asus Vista Compatible list! SO probably you'll get further than Peter when asking for a BIOS update.
I kind of feel sorry for Peter. He did all the legwork in finding someone who can identify the fault, and yet he seems to be having the most problems in getting a BIOS update. Even if the board isn't Vista certified, the chipset is and that is what is causing the problem. Therefore, Asus should be obliged to fix that fault at least, even if another component on the board isn't compatible. Especiallyif they can fix THE SAME FAULT in their M2V board!
