Default PCI-PCI Bridge re-install on every cold boot

Pitr it seems the PT880 with 8237A on ASrock with Vista logo has also problems .On Nvidia forum i found this post from deathRO.His system with dual core dont work good at all with Vista .His got screen corruption please search here all his posts(has 3 or 4 with some screen shots) :http://forums.nvidia.com/index...howtopic=27043&st=1060. Post some solution if u have it or get in touch with AS.. about this problem also.Big problems u got there with those boards.

The board is designed for Microsoft Windows XP / XP 64-bit (like they say on ASrock website)but the name and Vista logo are strange if the board has problems:

4CoreDual-VSTA

1. LGA 775 for Intel® Core™ 2 Extreme / Core™ 2 Duo / Pentium® XE / Pentium® D / Pentium® 4 / Celeron® D, supporting Quad Core Kentsfield processors
2. VIA® PT880 Ultra Chipset

* Supports FSB1066/800/533MHz processors and H-T Technology
* Supports Dual Channel DDRII667 (DDRII x 2 DIMM slots) and DDR400 (DDR x 2 DIMM slots)
* Untied Overclocking : During Overclocking, FSB enjoys better margin due to fixed AGP/PCIE/ PCI Buses
* 1 x PCI Express Graphics slot
* 1 x AGP 8X slot
* Hybrid Booster - Safe Overclocking Technology
* 2 x SerialATA 1.5Gb/s connectors, support RAID 0, 1, JBOD functions
* HDMI_SPDIF header, providing SPDIF audio output to HDMI VGA card, allows the system to connect HDMI Digital TV/projector/LCD devices.
* 7.1 CH Windows® Vista™ Premium Level HD Audio (ALC888 Audio Codec)
* Supports all features in Windows® Vista™ Premium
* HD 8CH I/O: 4 ready-to-use USB2.0 ports, HD 7.1 channel audio jacks

Does ASUS have a forum which includes Modded BIOSes?
If so maybe you should ask them for a helping hand.

Though still try the official route. Especially if a bulk buyer has hundred of boards to replace with a competitor!

T@2, if you'd read my post you'd see that in fact, ASRock have patched this board to solve our same issue with a BIOS update. Seeing as I have this board in another rig (shared family) I would know! As for the problems with nVidia drivers causing graphics corruption, yes, I have seen these issues on my own rig and I'm confident that this is an nVidia driver issue rather than anything more sinister. It occurs on all boards with the PT880 chipset and southbridge with nVidia graphics co-processors. This graphics corruption mainly occurs during the UAC alerts and startup/shutdown, so isn't a major hinderance and one I'm prepared to put up with!

Andy, the ASUSTek forums are quite dead and mainly full of repetitive issues that are fixed with BIOS updates on the same site- I only wish that'd be our case! There's no real BIOS mod community I'm afraid.

Peter

Peter have you tried MODBID6 or any of the other bios mod programmes to see if you can see the difference between the orginal and the updated bios.

It might be a long shot but worth a try. Is the bios Award?

DeathRO, I'm familiar with the issue. Unfortunately there's no solution to this at the moment but (at least in my experience) it's not a major issue with totally precludes working with Vista. My money is on nVidia's drivers as a cause of the issue, in which case it'll be solved I'm sure within the next few months, so hang tight and keep at them!

As for it disabling Aero during 3DMark2001, that's just because it's an old program that doesn't bode well with Aero. Thus, it disables Aero and leaves you with the artefacts - annoying, I know, but not a total loss.

You could try uninstalling the nVidia drivers altogether and just using the bundled Microsoft drivers that are installed "out of the box" by Vista, unless you have an odd screen resolution that it doesn't support.

One thing I'd like to ask - does your motherboard produce the same issue as we have here, with the PCI-to-PCI Bridge reinstalling every time you start your computer up? Your motherboard shares exactly the same chipset and southbridge as we who are having the issue, and we've tracked this as the source of the issue.

Thanks
Peter

Pitr i just solved it i`ve sent an email to asrock and they told me to use Forecware 97.19 http://drivers.softpedia.com/g...-Vista-9719-WHQL.shtml, well, i did and now artefacts are gone, only problem is 3d mark gives me 10000 less score on vista than xp but if games works on ~30 fps i`m not running about scores
