Default Via AGP driver and Vista

Greetings!

Well, I have recently installed Vista on my PC. Got all the drivers, installed them nicely. But every time Vista tries to switch to 3D mode, my system hangs up and responds to reset only. I noticed that AGP speed is on 8x (Ati drivers->information). The problem is, my VGA is only 4x-compatible. In XP, it was fine because there was Ati Smartgard to set AGP settings. But even the latest (7.2) Ati drivers don't have this handy feature.
Can I change the AGP settings with a registry setting or some application?

My config:
MSI KT4AV (KT400 chipset)
Ati Radeon 9500 128 MB (AGP4x)
768 MB DDR333 RAM

Thanks for any help on this subject

RagingDrow

Is it limited to x4 in the bios then it should be at that speed regardless what the Ati program is saying.

Alas, I cannot change the AGP speed setting in the BIOS, its greyed out. I could change Fast Writes and Aperture size, but to no avail.

IT's odd you can't set the AGP. Try resetting the BIOS and see if you can change then.
