Default Trying to boot from cd, just keep getting some kind of reset...

Hallo folks, thanks for taking the time to look, it's appreciated.

I know that I saw several topics about resetting during install, but I don't think I've seen any legit answer to those topics. If there was, and I happen to miss it, very sorry.

So, here's the deal. Just got a sweet lil Epia mini-ITX mobo in today. It's a VIA Epia MII10000 if anyone's curious. Sweet little machine.

I'm using a regular 300W power supply (for now) along with a regular 10 gig hard drive and a CD Rom drive.

The hard drive has Windows 2000 Server on it. Obviously, I'd like to reformat that, and install Linux on it.

Dropped the install cd for X-Ubuntu in and....nothing. It keeps resetting. A screen will come up and say that it's reading from cd, and then soft reset the system.

I took the liberty to play around and try several distros, and each one seems like it's doing the same thing.

I should mention that if I let the hard drive boot, it will, but partially through the start-up for 2000, it'll read some kind of IDE error, and I get major blue screen.

Any help with this would be greatly appreciated. Thanks a ton in advanced. I'll keep trying...

This section is mean for vista queries but your problem seems to lies with window 2000 and linux. Try posting at general help arena, VIA EPIA and Mini-ITX arena or linux arena.

Hah, I just realized that I posted this in the Vista area instead of the Linux area. Heh, very sorry. If a mod can delete this, it would be appreciated. I'll re-post the information in the Linux area.

Again, sorry for the trouble, and thanks for the quick response.
