Microsoft's Windows Vista RC2 is now out and DigitalTrends.com reports that you'll need some pretty new hardware to run it properly: "Windows Vista, at the request of the OEMs and a lot of us performance users, makes much more aggressive use of hardware than its predecessors did at launch and really does need relatively current hardware to showcase its performance strengths. This means if you have a machine that is over a year old you probably should pass on this OS until you can afford to buy a new PC."

Vista RC2 is out - and hungrier than ever
Now that is a quote that I am going to have to use a lot, I think! Chris.

However you’ll want two things: at least a gig of memory and a good current generation graphics card.
Stuff which virtually anybody running XP already has, I can't imagine being without either.

I would actually recommend at least 2Gb of RAM, at 1Gb, Vista is using 40% of System RAM at idle. And a minimum 128Mb graphics card is also a must, 256Mb if you want Aero! Chris.

Chris 128mb video is enough to run Aero as long as it is not on-board video.

I think all of you are forgetting that this writer was using a system that was flawed from the beginning. He could not get Windows XP to run stable, so it is for sure he would not be able to get Vista to run stable. Basicly this review is worth nothing. He was using cheap components.
Something to think about,
