boyblue, I have an Averatec 2260 EY1...
Mr. Chris, I have read that post before.. it mentions nothing about my card, but I suppose signifies that a certified LogoD WDDM driver will be on the way..

Windows Vista RC2 out
Volcom, don't feel bad. On my DFI system nVidia 7800GT, I finally did get a driver last week that gave me 3D and an nVidia Control Panel. But I still can't get some of my games to run and one very important ( to me! ) Program will not install at all. That's Folding @ Home. Besides gaming and helping here at VIA, all my PC's run 24/7, Folding. So if that program won't run, Vista is worthless to me. Good thing I put it on it's own hard drive so I can boot back into XP when I want.
Hang in there! Chris.

Boys, boys.............it's all "pie in the sky", as you are BOTH (ALL) are aware there is no retail version yet, wait until "the fat lady sings"...................though I see no reason to play with Vista until the DirectX 10 hardware (and software) is out.

Windows Vista RC2 out
Would someone from VIA please comment on this issue giving me confirmation? I honestly have no idea whether those of us that have the K8N890CE chipset in our laptops will be able to get WDDM drivers and experience Aero. From everything I can tell, they should be able to. However, nothing so far. They have been releasing a couple beta drivers which they label K8M890 and even claim it works with both on the ViaArena website, yet we've never gotten anything more than a black screen in Vista, speaking for several laptop people. I saw this from Fiona Gatt VIA:
There are only two VIA chipsets (so far) that have integrated graphics that are Vista capable. They are the K8M890 and the P4M900. They both feature the VIA Chrome9™ HC IGP (Integrated Graphics Processor) core which provides DirectX® 9 graphics support with hardware pixel shaders.
No other VIA IGPs (Unichrome and UniChrome Pro included) are Vista capable. To run Vista on your new EPIA board you'll need to install a PCI graphics card that meets Vista requirements.
I just want to know if my K8M890CE/K8N890CE chipset will work with WDDM drivers soon or not. The default XP driver is VIA/S3 Deltachrome IGP but if I run the S3 graphics info utility, it says I have a K8M890CE/K8N890CE chipset and installing those XP drivers work just fine as a replacement to the Deltachrome ones in XP.
Thanks,
Kris

The following link on Via Arena says that these drivers are good for both the K8M890CE and the K8N890CE:
http://www.viaarena.com/defaul...atID=2900&SubCatID=164
This is not the case, and I wish someone on the site would correct this, as those of us with a K8N890CE should not bother wasting our time installing those drivers as we boot into a black screen and then have to go into safe mode just to rollback to previous driver. I'd really like to know if those of us K8N890CE chipsets can expect to see a WDDM driver that will do more than a black screen anytime soon? Anyone?
