UniChome IGP detecting old CRT
I have a P4800Pro chipset with UniChrome Pro IGP.
I had a ViewSonic CRT monitor I used with this system.
Today I upgraded to a widescreen LCD.
I am able to select the correct resolution (1680x1050) in the display properties. But the actual screen shows a 2 inch black band at the bottom.
I do have the latested MoBo Bios installed, which supports widescreen displays.
In the S3Display tab of the Unichrome control panel, it lists my old ViewSonic CRT as the one and only display. I cannot get it to remove the CRT and add the LCD instead.
When I uninstall the UniChrome driver, and use the basic Windows VGA adapter driver, I am able to select 1680x1050 and the actual screen display is correct, with no black bar.
When reinstalling the UniChrome driver, 1680x1050 gives a black bar again.
I understand what is happening. The UniChrome driver thinks its outputing to the old CRT. So since I select 1680x1050, it actually outputs 1600x1200 (confirmed by the LCD OSR panel), and creates a scrolling desktop for the extra 80 pixels in width. For the extra 150 pixels in the 1200 vert, it set them black.
I'm sure the display would be correct if I could get that ViewSonic monitor purged from the UniChrome config. But I've been unable to determine where it's getting it from. Please help!
