Default Replacing embedded video

I'm trying to install an ATI Radeon HD 2400 PRO in my computer. It is a PCI device (NOT PCI-E) I thought just putting it in would do the trick. It didn't.

I have a VIA Technologies PM 800-8237 mother board.

Bios is Phoenix Award V6.0 PM880-42302e31 20050118

(I have no idea what any of this stuff means)

I tried to follow the instructions that came with the video board. I went to device manager to Display Adapter to disable the video, but my device manager doesn't have that terminology or anything remotely resembling such. My add/remove programs doesn't show anything for drivers.

Totally lost.

Not knowing your motherboard there are a couple of things to check.

In the bios set Init display first to PCI and use the save and exit, and make sure you connect the monitor to the PCI video card.

It would help if we knew the make and model of the motherboard not the chipset that you have posted.
