Default Prosavage DDR integrated screen blanking

I support about 12 older PCs (2004 vintage) and recently (probably since July) after booting fine the monitor pops up with 'no signal' after maybe 5 minutes. I first considered MS update issues so have used system restore to go back to early July using Safe Mode. Now the screen goes off even in safe mode after logging on as admin. Weird. I also tried sfc /scannow but this hung about 50% through.
DirectX 9.0c, drivers are 08/2004, VT8751 chipset.
Any clues appreciated.
Thanks

Is this the same on all 12 systems or just one in particular? Tried a different monitor? If it's just one PC, can you give us the maker and model of the mainboard so we can check for newer drivers?

There also could be a couple of other issues. With a board of that era, bad capacitors on the mainboard could be the problem. Especially with using onboard video. It could also be heat related - how long since this/ these PC's have been dusted out and how good is the case airflow? Chris.

Hi Mr Chris, thanks for responding.

Yes, more than one PC affected, 4 so far. I will check out the internals for cobwebs (in an old school built 1850!) & dust - good thought.

I will check for new drivers - I think there is one for the Via chipset at least.
I am not back there until next Monday, so will post after that visit.
Thanks for your help.

Update: one appears OK after S3 driver update, 2 have died and won't reboot or start in safe mode. Overheating is certainly a cause.
