S3 Unichrome IGP

The above is my config ....... I am running windows xp I bought a new ACER 15" Widescreen, but the system does not give me the option to set the widescreen resolution... ... I am having the latest drivers...

The BIOS must define support for this widescreen resolution but it was the norm for VIA motherboards to not have this support until very recently.

Is this a retail MSI motherboard or was it used in a pre-built system from a PC company?

If the board is a retail MSI product, you can check to see if there is a newer BIOS available from MSI by using the MSI LiveUpdate utility. If the board was used in a pre-built system from a PC company, you'll need to contact the PC company to inquire about BIOS updates.

Alternatively, this board will accept an AGP graphics card. Some inexpensive AGP cards that support widescreen are GeForce FX 5200, GeForce 6200, and Radeon 9550.
