Via chrome9 HC IGP problem

Hi,

I bought a Laptop with a VIA VN896 chipset, and by looking in everest, I saw that it suports 4GB of ddr2 667 memory. So I bought 2gb and added to the 1gb that already had. The problem is that when vista starts, the screen is shown on 640x480 with 4bit color, and when you enter the device manager, it reports a code 12 error in the video card (the system has no resources to run this hardware....).

Recently I tested and found out that it will run fine with 2gb +512mb, but won't with 2gb + 1gb.

Can anyone help me?

You probably need to go into BIOS and allocate more of the system RAM to the onboard video.

You could also be having compatability problems with running 2 different brands of memory. Chris.
