Driver for VIA chrome9 HC IGP
I have a MSI K8M890 motherboard with VIA chrome9 HC IGP display adapter. i recently purchased a Dell 17" wide screen monitor but my display adapter doesnot support 1440x900 resolution. I have updated the bios and also confirmed that it supports up to 1920x1440.

Try these drivers here: VIA Arena - Display Drivers
If that doesn't help, then you will need to see if MSI has an updated BIOS for your board that will allow the resolution that you want. Chris.

Driver for VIA chrome9 HC IGP
i tried using CN896(CE)_200201g_XP_wIShld driver and it shows 1440x900 resolution, which means the bios is supporting but than this is not the right driver  . i need to have a new driver

No, the driver does support the higher resolutions, you BIOS does not. Ask MSI for a custom BIOS that will support the resolution that you want. They have done this in the past for many VIA customers, so I know they can do it. Chris.
