Default VIA PT890 issues
Hello there,

A few days ago i bought a new graphics card, the 8800 GT, and well..it doesn't work on my motherboard cause it has the VIA PT890 chipset. Some say it's because it doesn't support PCI-E 2.0, well.. I'm not really a computer expert so i can't really say if it is supported or not.

Can somebody help me out? Will i be able to upgrade my graphics card to the nice ones for example 8800 GT(X) with my current chipset or? (Right now i have the 8500 GT.)

You may be able to get the card to work by flashing the card's BIOS (available from the card's manufacturer) to PCI-E 1.0, or you can just return the card and get an 8600Gt which should work fine. There are a lot of issues with the 8800GT's not working on several maker's PCI-E 1.0 main boards. Chris.
