Hyperion Pro Driver will NOT install
I have a Bio-Star p4m80-m4 mother board,Pentium(R)2.6 ghz processor W/ 2gig's RAM and XP sp3 as an Operating System. I needed to update the driver for the S3G unichrome IGP. Which seemed to install just fine. Soo... I decided to update the platform driver package (Hyperion Pro Driver Package. The package seemed to download OK. I saved it to my program files Then ex trackted it and that seemed to go well. Then I clicked the Set Up launcher, this where I ran into problems, install shield got so far and a "1628:failed to install installation" patch came up. With a little research I learned that I needed to clean up (delete) the Windows Temp file. In an attempt to clear the files from the Temp folder I discovered that there where several perflib_perf files that would Not delete. With a little more research...I learned that these files are tied to other programs and processes running on my computer and needed to be closed before they would delete. Sooo.....I closed all the programs and processes that I knew of and felt safe closing. I finally, manually got all but one of the perflib_perf files and everything else in the file deleted, Then started the installation process again. Again Install Shield stopped with a "1628:failed to install" and a "1607:runtime" patch.
What do I do NOW?
Is there another method for installing the new (updated)drivers?

I do not recommend using any Hyperion drivers past the 5.17's. Anything newer seems to have serious issues for a lot of users. If you weren't having any issues with your current Hyperion drivers, stay with what you have.
And, for what reason were you updating your Unichrome drivers? Chris.

Updating the SG3 unichrome driver +
I was having a problem viewing graphic material feeds from the Internet. The technical support from the provider (netflix) indicated that there was a fault in my existing driver for the IGP. They told me that the IGP was seeing my monitor as a recording device and that 50% of the time the driver upgrade/update from the Via Arena would cure the problem. They seem to be right, when I updated the driver it solved the problem. The image is a little fuzzy but I've chalked that up to the down load speed of my DSL connection (1.4 mbts/sec.). I was told the only other option was to install a second graphics card. If you have any ideas regarding the image issues your advice would be greatly appreciated.
Regarding the Hyperion Pro Driver Package...the guys down at my favorite local computer build shop suggested that I go through the Via Arena driver updates and run them all. I suppose assuming updates are designed to improve the performance and repair faults of those that have been designed and installed prior.........is logical thinking?
This is the first built computer I've owned. I really like the thing. I have issues that still need to be solved with it....Soooo....any and all advice will be well taken and greatly appreciated.
Thanks for the assistance,
ST

O.K., so you updated the video drivers and fixed the Netflix issue. Now you want to upgrade to a newer set of Hyperion drivers just because the "guys down at the shop" said to? I already told you I do NOT RECOMMEND ANY NEWER VERSION OF HYPERIONS THAN 5.17!.
If you are having other issues than the video ones, please tell me what they are so I can try and find you a better solution than banging your head against the wall trying to install a crappy set of Hyperion drivers that may not even fix your problems! Please? Chris.

Thanks Chris,
Thanks for the help, everything seems to be working fine (except for the fuzzy image), as per your advice I've stopped trying to install the newer hyperion drivers. I guess if it isn't broken I shouldn't try to fix it. Anyway, Thanks again for the advice.
