VIA CPU To AGP Controller Out Of Date?
I'm a bit confused about the driver in the title that is included in the Hyperion Pro 5.20A driver package. In the package the XP version is 5.1.0.3442 and is dated 2nd July 2003.
Driver Detective is telling me that I should have the "Via Arena Hyperion Pro Driver" version 4.9.0.3460 dated 29/06/2006.
Is Driver Detective getting confused here or is there a wrong driver in the 5.20A package?

I don't recommend the 5.20's, use the 5.17's, I think the driver that you are looking for is in there. Not sure why VIA put a really old driver in their latest release.
Hmmm, for once, Driver Detective was actually right. Wonders never cease. Chris.

NeoMorph.
For XP I would use the 5.1.0.3442 version, are you having problems?

That is the AGP driver for Windows 98/ME. The latest VIA driver for XP/2000 is 5.1.0.3442 dated 2nd July 2003, which is the last AGP driver VIA will ever release for these OS.
If you have AGP3.0 (AGP 8x) compliant chipset, the latest available AGP driver is actually supplied by Microsoft with SP2 or SP3. Some report the VIA driver works better, others say no difference.

I'm glad I can buy a new HD3850 AGP and not have a updated AGP driver to match, just peachy.

ATI didn't give you a matching AGP driver for obsolete VIA chipsets? Bummer.
Microsoft has taken over AGP driver support with Vista, so you have a newer AGP driver than is available from VIA.
