Default Older IDE drivers in Hyperion 5.20 than 5.18

For some reason the IDE drivers for Windows XP in 5.20a are older than those in 5.18a and 5.17a.

Hyperion 5.20a contains version 6.0.6000.165 dated 17th October 2006 (in folder VIAStor\driver\IDE\NT5), whereas 5.18a and 5.17a contain version 6.0.6000.182 dated 21st September 2007 (in folder MiniIDE\driver\IDE\NT5).

The release notes make no mention of this change and the latest download of the standalone IDE drivers also reverts to the 6.0.6000.165 drivers from 2006.

Is there a good reason for this or is it just an administrative error?

Probably just an oversight or error on the driver team's part. As I keep telling folks, the best Hyperion's were the 5.17's, anything newer has issues. Chris.

Although I must say that finally you can access SMART information from SATA drives under Windows Vista with the current VRAID driver from the 5.20a Hyperion Pro package.

On the other hand since Hyperion Pro 5.16a the VRAID driver is unstable on my KT880 board under Windows XP (BSODs). So there I stay at the package 5.15a.

I have 5.15a package on XP SP2 and have no problems with it. So i guess it's a good thing, that haven't upgraded.

I see that the latest Hyperion Pro 5.21A package still has the older IDE drivers from 2006 so obviously VIA don't think the newer drivers are any good.

What's going on? As usual the 'release notes' only list the previous version, 5.20A, and tell you very little.

The only 'extra' thing the older drivers include is the ability to 'hot swap' drives.
