Default Can't Access PCI Cards on BIOSTAR K8M800

My first build. I just put together a Biostar K8M800 with a Sempron
processor. Everything has been fine for 2-3 weeks. Suddenly I can't access
the two boards I have in the PCI slots. One is a WinTV board and the other
is a Modem (Creative). Both were working fine.

One thing I did was install a LG DVD Burner which came with Nero7. That is
about all I can think of.

I see Biostar has a new BIOS called "Improved LG ODD compatibles. (Beta
version)"

BIOSTAR

I installed that but it didn't help.

I did a system restore back to before the DVD install but I hesitate to go
further back because that restore point is the XPSP3 install.

Any idea why the PCI cards can't be accessed?

Thanks In Advance.

Pete

What happens when you remove the LG DVD player? What model is the DVD player? I take it nothing is showing up in the device manager?

Duh, my screw-up. One PCI board was not quite seated correctly. It has a lot of cables hanging out the back and it looks like, as I slid the chassis back (after installing the DVD burner), the cables tilted the card. I had the screw in it but it flexed the metal strip.

I am sure this wouldn't have happened if I had seated the board correctly. After 39 years as an electrical engineer, installing thousands and thousands of circuit boards, I screw up this one.

I guess that after 10+ years of fighting a plethora of Microsoft software problems I forgot about hardware problems.

Thanks,

Pete
