If the 4.56 drivers work and installed correctly, then I would leave it alone. Too much messing with VIA drivers can only lead to headaches!
As for the games you mentioned, the lag or stuttering is due to your video card and the amount of RAM you have. I don't remember when that card came out, but it is several years old. See if you can find a 6600Gt or similar card, should be lots around pretty cheap ( think E-Bay  ) and add some more RAM. That will hold you until you can afford a big upgrade. Chris.

thanks guys!i really appreciate your replies! i unpacked the 4.43 drivers and installed it and overwrite the 4.56 version and i think it went ok! i think nothing was affected. so,is the 6600gt card a agp type?

Yeah, 6600GT AGP (I think they did make a PCI-E cards as well so be sure in the description). I had a PNY 6600GT, then a 6800GT in my Abit AV8 board before I finally upgraded to PCI-E. Both were very nice cards. Chris.
