Default Where do the x64 drivers go?

I have an ABIT KV-85 motherboard with a VIA chipset. I am running Windows Vista Basic x64 on it. As you know in x64 there are seperate C:\Program Files for x32 and x64.

When I downloaded the lastest x64 drivers they were in WinRAR, so I extracted them to a VIA folder in th x64 bit Program Files. I assumed that's where they were supposed to go. But after an installation and reboot I found a new VIA folder in the x32 Program Files.

Did I do something wrong or is this the way it's supposed to be?

Ummm, I would have just downloaded them to the Desktop, then extract and install them from there. Not sure where your files extracted to (you supposed to keep notes on that ) Chris.

Default More details

I did download them, but not to the desktop...But to one of my other drives. Anyway they came in a zip file and I did extract them, like I said, to a x64 Program Files folder, then I ran the setup and installed them.

All I know is, if you run a x64 OS, you need to run the x64 chipset driver and when you do extract, then install everything, all files should stay in the x64 Program Files folder after reboot.

That's not what happened to me. There is now a VIA folder in the x32 Program Files. I think I might just uninstall, then just reinstall right from the WinRAR Zip folder they came in. I did that once before and everything went where it was supposed to go.
