Default VIA HyperionPro Driver installation issue on Win ME
Hi

Via describes their VIA Hyperion Pro Drivers as Win ME and Win 9x compatible. Unfortunately, this is NO LONGER CORRECT.

Version 5.15A, 5.14A, and probably also 5.13A & 5.12A, are NOT INSTALLABLE on Win ME. Last working package was 5.11A.

If VIA no longer support legacy Win OS, their should describe this clearly at the driver release.

It does support ME, however, since the newer versions dont have any actual updates for ME, it will not update your drivers...

Smile Hyperion 5.17a works correct again...

Yes, with the exception of AGP and INF there are no more legacy WinME drivers. But what I want to say, is that the installation process of the last three or four Hyperion versions CRASHES. The computer was during the installation completely blocked, a hard reset was then necessary.

Interesting note, the newest driver package 5.17a seems to work correctly.
