Vista problem with hyperion drivers
Hyperion drivers only go in under program files not in device manager under Vista 32 bit. Will go in device manager and change up drivers under XP in the system devices, i am talking about the information files only. Tried 5.13 thru 5.15 drivers for vista, Use setup launcher to install, after it gets thru it says failed to install none. One might say vista already has latest drivers installed, then why does VIA keep updating their information files such as with the 5.15 drivers. Using Asus A8V-XE motherboard with VIA 8251 southbridge. Read other posts similar to this, but no one has really answered the question as far as i know.

VIA updates the INF files for later chipsets that yours. Which is why nothing new is installed, it's not needed for your board. Stick with the drivers that are already in Vista. Chris.

Thanks for your reply, Mr. Chris. I am having frezing problems in vista, while clicking on programs or while playing games and hoped these drivers would help if they would install. I have no problem in XP. I am using a EVGA 8800 GTS 320 mb video card and believe the problem is the way it interacts with the VIA Chipset. Simply replacing the card with an ATI 2600 XT and the problem goes away. Have all updates in vista, and all microsoft hotfixes. Even RMA the video card and motherboard and both places EVGA and Newegg sent me out brand new ones.No change, have newest bios and drivers. Installed Vista probable 10 times, always go back to XP becausing of the freezing problem. Tried all different video drivers and everthing else, still freezes. Not a heat problem or memory or power supply problem. Specs Asus A8V-XE, FX-55 processor, Corsair memory Twin-X 2048 (Two one mb sticks),Creative X-FI,tried on board sound also, Antec 550 watt trio,WD Santa 2 harddrive.

Terry Akin,
I too had freeze problem in Vista and I too have the Hyperion thingy.
But I came to know it was the problem with a faulty video driver, and now , voila, i got a vista compatible driver off the VIA site only, for Hyperion Plus/Pro i guess and the video graphics. Now I can run vista like a charm
No probs at all, I recommend you to just un install the video and hyperion drivers download the vista compatible drivers from VIA site only and then install
Regards

Thanks for your reply, GFXLive, i haven't checked the forums in a while. On the VIA website they only have drivers for On board video, i have a graphics card, EVGA 8800 GTS and have to use drivers off nvidia website. I guess you must be using onboard video.
