Default agp bus not working. VIA drivers wont install

Hi all: I have a MSI K8T neo 2 ver 2.0 mainboard, with a dualcore Xp 64 4200 cpu. I have terrible graphics speed, and deplorable 3dbench scores. Recently I have come to realize that I do not seem to have any AGP driver installed. Rivatuner says no agp support. 3dmark05 says no agp support or hardware detected. SisoftSandra also says no AGP installed. When I try to run the latest hyperionpro drivers ver 5.15 they say I do not have the proper hardware installed.
In the windows device manager I see no reference that an AGP driver is installed, or there is any pci-agp bridge or anything like that listed. Nothing under VIA for agp either.
Some places I have read that in windows add/remove database there should be something referenced to Via AGP driver as well. Once again, I have nothing listed here.
MSI wants me to do a complete new install of windows XP. I would HATE to do that as than I will have to reinstall over 100 games and utilites and their patches as well.
I will list my system specs as follows.

msi k8t neo 2 ver 2.0
amd 64 x2 dual core 4200+
2 gig of Gskill memory 400 mhz. 2.5 cas
geforce 7600 GS agp with 512 mb DDR
ide harddrives, no sata
450 watt PSU, 15 amps on the 12volt bus.
windows XP home. service pack 2

3dmark05 shows a score of 1654. My system is one of the lowest, the next comparable system (cpu and video card) faster scores over 3000 and the majority score 6000-9000
in microsoft flight sim. I manage frame rates around 10-22 FPS. many other people claim rates of 40-60 fps using the same graphic settings.
3dmark 2000se shows 19,540 for my system. Many other reports of people show 24,000 on up score.
I also just installed a geforce 6800 AGp and still have no agp and new VIA drivers will not install.
Remember! the new via hyperion pro drivers will not even upgrade. they say I do not have the correct hardware.
Any advice would be appreciated.
I really do not wish to reload windows and find out I still have this problem.

Did you install nvidia driver as in ForceWare Release? Also ensure that agp feature is enable in bios.

You couldn't compare it this way, are the so call next comparable system using similar specs as u as in graphic card, processor, ram etc, all this play a part, especially the graphic card, if u wanna score high in 3D mark, get urself a highend card like 8800GT or GTS.

The AGP driver is installed via SP2 and is from MS. You can "force" an install of the
VIA AGP if you wish. For most systems this is not necessary.

hi all thanks much to both of you for responding. If the agp driver is installed by service pack 2, then why does everything I run tell me no agp is installed? and why such deplorable benchmarks, when I compare to the exact same Cpu and video cards? I am not comparing to quadcore, geforce 8800 systems. I am comparing to 7600GS systems, and cpu's slower then mine are twice as fast.
I installed at least 4 different nvidia forceware drivers now with all poor results. I uninstall and use driver cleaner in between each new driver test. in bios it says agp 8x, but the option is greyed out. MSI claims that if it is greyed out then the bios has set itself correctly for my agp card.
fast writes and sideband addressing are also turned off according to Sandra and 3dmark05 and some other testing program I tried.( I forgot its name)
none of this makes any sense. If the via hyperion drivers claim I have no hardware and they will not install either. According to their claims they will run on ANY Via based system, well... they sure will not install on mine! Something must be wrong.

Why dun you try a older version of 4 in 1 drivers? Try going into safe mode, under device manager>display adapter, ensure there's no additional graphic drivers in there, if there is, uninstall it, reboot and install ForceWare Release drivers again, fyi u need the 4 in 1 and the driver from nvidia to work

In the device manager one of the listings should be : VIA CPU TO AGP 2.0/3.0 AGP CONTROLLER". In the properties for this device a driver should be listed from MS, its date should be 2003 or prior. Is this present?

stampee

Install 4.56 at the bottom of this page http://www.viaarena.com/default.aspx?PageID=420&OSID=1&CatID=1070&Old=1 and see if the AGP installs.

Stampee also check the Universal Accelerated Graphics Port (UAGP)@ MS.I would go for a fresh install of xp sp2 then the latest hyperion 4in1 driver. The driver you need is GAGP30KX.sys and comes with sp2.
Good luck

HI all:Thanks for all the advice. I tried installing from safe mode and get a message that installer package will not run. I never had any via cpu to agp controller in device manager, so I could not click on it to install a new driver. I finally wound up doing an XP restore. After restore, I was able to install the MSI via 4in1 drivers that came with my mainboard. Now my system runs 100% better. 3dmark05 score jumped from 1654 to 3194. In FSX my frame rate doubled as well. I am a happy camper once again.
Now if I only had the hair back I lost with all this work!

Good to see you have it working, just out of curiosity is there a cpu to agp controller in device manager now?
