New VIA Hyperion Pro Drivers

New VIA Hyperion Pro drivers have been released, version 5.15A. These drivers update the Falcon Storage Device Driver to version 2.30A. They can be used with any VIA chipset and any Microsoft operating system from Windows 98 onwards.

No one had problems with the new drivers then or is no one installing them.

i trying hard to install 515A but i received error 1612...why? i'm using winxp sp2..tq

At least the SATA IDE drivers seem to be working better now. No more "System Has Recovered from a Serious Error"-messages after reboots.

It would be nice to know release notes of the new version. I mean what has been fixed and so on.

Engine: I got problems, that Quicktime crashes with Opera browser, when try to open certain mime types. Could it be the problem with Hyperion drivers? I got 5.14 version. Upgrading QT didn't solve the problem. I got XP SP2.

VIA_HyperionPro_V515A

The Readme.htm was not updated (bummer). I expanded the via_hyperionpro_v515a.zip and compared the VIA_HyperionPro_V515A to VIA_HyperionPro_V513A. The only item of interest (to me) is the updated MiniIDE that has new driver version 6.0.6000.182 instead the 6.0.5728.170 in v5.13A.

I created Restore Point and updated the driver for VIA Bus Master IDE Controller by pointing the driver update directly to the MiniIDE/driver/IDE/NT5. The update was without problems. It appeared that nothing changed – but surprise (present).

When playing the Celtic River from CD player, I noticed that the violins and flutes have new crisp sound, and the drums vibrate. Looking on the CPU temperature (SpeedFan) I observed the temperature to go from 52oC (old IDE driver) to 47oC (45oC idle) - that is 5oC difference! Thanks VIA.
