I have a matsonic mother board ms 7142a and to get the usb to work properly i need the via ide tool utility to properly manage data flow with windows 98se. help to locate this small program will be greatly appreciated.

this is close to what i need it is to control the southbridge vt686 problems with windows 98se with data transfer to/from hard drive and usb jump drives I thought it was called via ide tool utility ver. 1 it is a small program that is adjustible and reports what ide. cd. usb drive devices are rated as mode types then controls data flow to prevent lockup thanks for your response

There is one called George Breese's Patch that will allow you to change the latencies. LOOK HERE. Altho he does mention the VIA IDE Tool, I have no idea where you can get it. Chris.

thanks for all your replies as i have found this program at this web site. it is via mini port driver. driver fixes compatibility issues with vt82c686b south bridge and iomega zip100/250 drives as well as other drives. under all microsoft systems. file name via_ide_mpd_v320b, a zip file, version 3.20b ,date 18 august 2003. with this program my usb devices now transfer data without lock up.......
