Crash - Hyperion 5.13a (Falcon 210a culprit) - Gigabyte K8VNXP
Greetings,
I have an Ultra eSATA enclosure I purchased for an external hard-drive, and up to now have been forced to plug it in USB, my Gigabyte K8VNXP not supporting "hot swappable" eSATA, so I'm not benefiting from the speed I would get with eSATA and slowing down the system with yet another USB connection. I run Windows XP, with an AMD 64 3700+ cpu.
Soooo... I read the new Falcon v210a added eSATA hot swapping for the VT8237 South Bridge, and was happy to finally be able to use my external HDD properly. I also downloaded the new V-Raid 560a while being at it, which installed like a charm, unfortunately no such luck with the v210a, which froze during the install process, and during reboot crashed the system over and over again before getting to the Windows log-on screen.
So I reverted to the last working config, and tried again with the same results. I then downloaed the new Hyperion 5.13a package to try to do it all in one go - same result when the install got to the Falcon v210a portion - froze, crash on reboot until return to previous configuration.
I then tried to install all of the Hyperion package ASIDE from the Falcon, which worked like a charm and they are all updated now.
Now remains what I actually needed the update for! Any solutions to this problem? I remember when the Falcon driver was still called the VIA IDE Accelerator Driver, being told that my system didn't have the proper hardware for it, even though the K8VNXP definately has the VT8237 as a south bridge, and the VT8383 on the north bridge.
Is this issue Gigabyte specific? K8VNXP specific? My system only?
Please let me know what can be done so I can finally make use of my eSATA external drive!
Thanks in advance!

Uhm - if this is the official customer support page for VIA, will someone from the company answer if no one from the forums does?

If no one here in the Forum has encountered this problem or has any advice for you, that's pretty much it. No one from VIA looks at this Forum, there is no " real " customer support in the way of a company technician. Sorry. Chris.
