Do I really need the 4in1 drivers?
For the past few years I have owned several computers with VIA
based chipsets, and by default have always installed the latest
4in1/Hyperion drivers. I just rebuilt an older PC with an ECS
PV4MM2 motherboard (fresh XP SP2 installation) and am asking
myself: Do I really want / need to install the VIA drivers, or am I
fine just installing the device drivers that WindowsUpdate suggests
to me (which btw don't include any motherboard drivers)? So to sum
it up, what am I missing if I don't install the VIA motherboard
drivers? Is it just a matter of stability (which seems fine without
it), or is it also a matter of performance, and if so, what
components benefit performance wise from the 4in1 drivers?

Thanks!

...if you have SP2 you have VIA drivers. They are included. Thrust me, if you haven't install those drivers your Hardware manager would be full of exclamations!

Well, I'm "younger" than Scorpion1, but you must take note that I had to register again with different name after being banned. (So, Scorpion is only a new name... with 0 posts and new join date )
I didn' t know there is already Scorpion... Cheers!

the XP included drivers are somewhat lame - the 4in1 usually give a bit of a performance boost. However, no need to install them if ur happy with the performance
