Problem Installing 4 in 1 Driver 4.55

Hello I need help becase I have become very annoyed. I have
recently been trying to install the newest version (4.55) of the 4
in 1 driver, but every time I try the instilation fails and I get
an error saying that something in the registery is corrupt or
missing and to reboot my computer. After doing so I try again and
well I get the same error message and something else. Now my CD-Rom
is no longer being recognized, and the only way to make my CD-Rom
work is to reinstall windows. I have run scanreg and it has found
no problems. I have downloaded and even bought an after market
registry checker, but still it finds nothing. Can some one please
help!!!!</p>

I notice you're using win me, heard there's some issue with it. Why don't you get yourself a 2000 or xp instead? Alternatively you can try doing a fresh install of your window and after that get the 4.53 instead of the 4.55. If your drivers CD is not useable, you can always download the drivers from VIA or at gigabyte site.

4 in 1 drivers version 4.38 one of the best for ME. Here it is:

The new versions don't work well with ME. 4.38 was one of the best for the OS.

I totally agree with cas about ME, your best bet is to upgrade
your OS to WinXP.. then dig a deep hole and bury the ME disc!</p>

Well you guys were deffiently right I upgraded to XP and well everything runs better and faster I cant believe Microsoft put out some thing so crappy.

its not that

its becoz windows me can't unlock the drive to update them

updating via safe mode works flawlessy
