Default EPIA SN 10000 with CF and DVD (IDE)

hi,
i recently bought the epia sn 10000 motherboard and having some trouble with it. i have a CF card installed underneath as 'ide master' and DVD drive as 'ide slave'. no other cards or hdd install. just the cf card and dvd drive.
i want to install an OS on to this CF card from a livecd. there is no problems with the CF or DVD drive, as it has been tested on a different system.
if both are connected to the sn 10000, it freezes during BIOS post screen. but if i disconnect either one, it does not lock up and completes the post screen.
has anybody had any similar problem? or a fix?
thx

on further testing... seems like have figured out why it does not get past the BIOS boot screen.
no matter which jumper you set the CF to be MASTER or SLAVE. it always is SLAVE. weird??? BIOS problem?

in the end, managed to get it to boot past the BIOS screen with both CF and DVD connected. but now the problem is the boot priority device. i set to boot directly from cd first, after restart, cd does not start and when checking the first device becomes the CF? did this a few times and everytime i change to boot DVD first, seems somehow automatically CF becomes first.

so not sure if this is a BIOS problem or not.

anyone out there having luck with CF with this board?

Hello lilo,

welcome to SN10000. I've exactly the same trouble with the same board. There's no trouble with peripheral hardware. It's definitely a BIOS-Problem. I talked about this with people from VIA Germany and they send me the Flashing-Tool and an new BIOS revision 2.01 (the installed one is 1.0).

I hopefully started to make an update...

and then:

the update-process was aborted: Flash can't be erased....

Until now I don't have a solution, but if there's one, I'll find and send a message. So long .......

rootmaster

Hello,
I managed to solve 'Flash can't be erased' problem - there is jumper responsible for bios protection next to memory slots (page 23 in manual), when removed lets bios to be updated.
there is a But! still cant change boot device order, have network boot as first device which adds exta 30 sec to boot time
