Default EPIA-M Wake on LAN (WOL) Goes to sleep

Morning Folks

I have been battling the WOL functionality on my EPIA-M motherboard. It looks like the wake on lan function “goes to sleep” a few minutes after the PC is shut down.

For example, if I shut the pc down, count to ten and send the magic packets, it wakes up as expected. If I shut down again & leave for a couple of hours, the magic packet no longer works. Incidentally, the keyboard still shows power – the caps lock light remains lit, so I assume the M/B still has power.

I have tried using the onboard LAN, and also a separate PCI NIC – with and without WOL cable installed, but I get the same symptoms.

I have tried power cycling the network switch, to see if it is some powersaving mode kicking in within that, but still no joy.
I have checked the power settings for the NIC in windows (XP SP2) and I have all three tick boxes enabled in the Power Management tab of the network card settings.

I have checked the BIOS level on my motherboard & I am on the latest flavour.

I have run out of ideas for anything else to try

Help!!!

Paul.

Hmm, no relies. Seems that VIA bypass giving direct support by directing customers to a "monitored" forum that doesn't grace with a response. I work in the IT support industry & we would be out of business if we treated our customers in such a way.
