HD playback, LVDS?

Hello,

I was present on this forum some 4 years ago. As we are now back to kiosk business, we are looking for small board (mini-itx is OK), which would handle HD playback. The question is simple - what is minimal HW configuration, to handle such task? I do remember half a year ago reading some review on Tom's HW, that they used some board featuring AMD780 chipset and sempron 3000+

I wonder if some VIA based board would handle full HD playback?

And second question - our HW designer wants to use LVDS, to avoid unnecessary picture conversion. But for HD, more than one LVDS connector would be needed iirc. Here I have two questions:

- does VIA mini-itx platform drivers allow me to use LVDS? Or is the conversion of signal automatic, so no drivers needed?

- does VIA mini-itx LVDS allow me to transfer full HD picture?
