Default Certificate of Volatility

Has anyone ever heard of such a thing? I have a customer who needs to be sure that there is no saved information on a motherboard before returning it for service, and the usual assurances aren't working.

Does any motherboard manufacturer document the volatility of their motherboards?

Thanks!
