Question Bios upgrade problem

Hi,

I've had a slight misfortune during Bios upgrade of my VIA EPIA EN15000G. I had a power failure.

The problem is, that the board does not start up anymore. Is it by any chance possible for me to do anything.

I've tried allmost anything(googled for help) but nothing seems to work(I've not tried to swap bios with another card due to the reason that I only own 1 card)

Is it possible to obtain/buy a new allready flashed bios chip for my card??

Best regards

Thomas

Have you contacted VIA tech support?

AFAIK, BIOS chips are not replaceable, they're soldered onto the board.

Default How????

Hi again

How do I contact them??? I've been looking for an email adress, but haven't found any. I've written to via using a web formula, but the reply i got was just containing links to this forum and to the faq.

Obviosly they weren't of any use.

Best regards

Thomas

I used the form here: Contact Us - VIA Technologies, Inc.

But it sounds like you've already tried that without much success

I have axcatly same problem.

With Via flash beta utility, I tried to flash newer bios to my mii-10000 board but after more than one hour there was no activity about flashing. So, I canceled the procedure. Now, my board is working when power on but there is no beep sound, no video output and no response.

I googled about the problem and found that if there is another similar board one can try hotflash (described in ONLamp.com -- BIOS Flashing and Hotflashing).

I tried hotflash with my another via chipset board (jetway 627FS) with no success.

I think only way to recover the board is have a new BIOS chip.

Thumbs down

Hi friends.

I have the same problem with a M-10000 Series motherboard.

When I tried to flash the Bios with ViaFlash utility (VIAFLASH_V09_Beta_Release090307.zip (50KB)) and the file (I0100116.bin (257KB) Version 1.16 (2004/10/14)) the system was froze. I was waiting 6 hours and 23 minutes to any reaction of the sistem. Now my M-10000 is die. CPU Fan is ok (running) when the sistem is power on, but no video and "life" is visible.

In the next image... is that, the BIOS chip? It seems not soldered and replaceable.

THANKS. (Sorry for my bad english, I´m from Spain.)

I am still working on re-flashing my bios. My mii-10000 board has SST 39SF020A bios chip(same as Matute's bios chip). I have found same chip on a dead motherboard and tried hotflash with similar mainboard using uniflash .

Uniflash has many command line options. One of them is CHIPLIST option which is used for to identify the bios chip. I have identified hex number BFB6 for this SST chip using CHIPLIST option. When I flash the bios image to the chip, it failed at the end of the process. This part of the process is about writing the boot block. So, you need to disable write protect option of the original bios before flashing the any bios chip. You have two option for this which depends on the mainboard used. Some mainboards have jumper for write protection but some of them has bios option. My mainboard has bios option. Although I disabled write protection from bios, it seems that this option is not disable write protect. So, I still could not manage flash my bios chip.

I tried flash my original mii-10000 bios using same steps but the result was the same. If I can find a similar mainboard which has jumper to disable write protection of bios, I'll try flashing again.

Any luck on the bios reflash?

I did the same thing to mine, used the via flash utility from winxp and ended up with a dead mobo...
