Default PX10000G LCD Panel Values & Bit Numbers

Good day,

I have two related questions.

1) Is there any documentation anywhere about what Panel Type (0x00 - 0x0F) mean in the PX10000G Bios? I'm assuming these are resolution settings or somesuch, but even google doesn't get any answers.

2) What is the default bit length per dot clock on the LVDS outputs? I have an NEC NL102768 panel, which has 3 input channels + clock. Each data channel expects 6 bits per dot clock, but when I hook the panel up to my new motherboard, it just displays garbage. Is the Unichrome set up by default to try and send 8 bits per channel for 32 bits total, or 6-bits per channel for 24 total? (there are 4 output channels, and I'm only using 3. Am I right to assume RGB are on 0-2?) This is an 18-bit display panel, and it doens't know how to handle 24 bits. Some info on the LVDS outputs would be nice, the users manual gives me nothing. Would be nice to know if the # of bits could be changed too in a bios or updated bios of sorts.

Thanks,
Martin

I found this in the VIA drivers installation manual (first time anywhere, not sure why it's so hard to have found this info before on Google), for the Panel Type (or PanelID) field in the Bios.

"0" #640x480, Single, Dithering
"1" #800x600, Single, Dithering
"2" #1024x768, Single, Dithering
"3" #1280x720, Single, Dithering
"4" #1280x1024, Dual, Dithering
"5" #1400x1050, Dual, Dithering
"6" #1600x1200, Dual, Dithering
"7" #1280x800, Single, Dithering
"8" #800x480, Single, Dithering
"9" #1366x768, Single, Non-Dithering
"10" #1360x768, Single, Non-Dithering
"11" #1024x768, Dual, Non-Dithering
"12" #1280x768, Single, Non-Dithering
"13" #1280x1024, Dual, Non-Dithering
"14" #1400x1050, Dual, Non-Dithering
"15" #1600x1200, Dual, Non-Dithering

However I think I'm having the same issue as Thermoptic with the color dithering... Probably a slightly wrong bit order or somesuch going on.

Nice find on the LCD BIOS settings!! I looked all over, but apparently, not everywhere. They are of little use to me now, but I may post this on the MP3 car forums for others.

My next system will be something more capable, such as a Kontron mini-ITX system, with integrated on-board LVDS transmitter. They publish compatible display list with complete settings.

I should have done more research before buying the EPIA-EN 15000G and the LVDS-07G. Oh well, that's part of the learning process I suppose.
