Default 2nd Epia EN-12000 Seems dead- any ideas?

Hello, I'm now on my 2nd Via EPIA-EN12000EG and I'm having the same problem I returned the 1st for. When I power it up it seems to boot (I can hear the SATA drive spin up and see the ethernet light blink) but I get no display out, and no beep codes. This is the case with 2 different power supplies.

The current setup is as basic as I can make it- 1 sata drive, 1gb memory stick, keyboard and monitor.

Any ideas?

I have the same issue with the Phylon 7F2WE-1G5 Mini-ITX Mainboard. The motherboard heat sink gets hot fast. I get the motherboard power LED, CPU fan spins up, CD drive spins up, but there is not BIOS screen and no diagnostic beeps.

If these are new boards, return them. They are defective. Chris.

Talking

I had a similar issue. I suspect VIA EPIA EN12000 being very sensitive to Electrostatisc Discharge. They do not get fried but they misbehave. I recommend removing the power supply for some time (30sec -2 minutes) and try to start it without the power supply connected. In other words try to get rid of any charge inside.

Remove also any network cable (until it starts) since some switches/routers are "confusing(ESD again?)" the VIA board.

Regards,
Octavian
