I've been looking all over for an explination of the beeping noises. mine started when I plugged in a modem and turned it on and it started beeping, now it has no video. and with or without the modem, it still beeps all the time. The beeping noise is a beep followed by two quick beeps then there is a lower frequency noise folled by one even lower. I've already tried clearing the cmos and went out and bought new ram.

thanks for any help.

I believe these are pretty much Industry Standard for all PC:

"One short beep when displaying logo No error during post

Long beeps in a continuous loop No system memory detected

One long beep followed by two short beeps Graphics card not detected or faulty

High frequency beeps while system is in operation CPU overheating. System forced to a lower frequency.

Post back with what series of beeps you are getting. Also, make sure the RAM is still fully in the RAM slots.

Do you know for sure the Modem is good? Chris.

there is a beep followed by two quick beeps then, a second later, there is a lower frequency noise followed by one even lower.

Ram is sitting good. the modem was pulled from my old pc that was working. but even without the modem it still beeps

Hi there I'm replying to this post in the hope of some help myself... (sorry m_court15!)

I've been reading through other peoples post in relation to power on self test beep codes

and Mr Chris's seems to describe my computers beeping pattern perfectly...

"Long beeps in a continuous loop = No system memory detected"

*The pc just beeps nothing shows up on the screen
*I've tried re-inserting the ram ... no joy there obviously.
*my Mother board is an VIA VT8235

I should mention also that this happened after the pc was on a car journey for about an hour ... Something must have been shaken loose inside..but as far as I can tell everything seems to be in place (it happened briefly before after a similar journey but cleared up straight away...so I now know the moral of the story!).

Thanks!!!

apologies for bumping this very old thread, but did anyone who had this problem ever resolve it?

I have just picked up an EPIA 5000 from a certain auction site, and i am getting this exact problem (with these series of beeps).

Before I bite the bullet and buy a brand-new EPIA 5000, can anyone help?

a million thankyous

edit:
having been continuing to search through the forum, this seems like quite a common issue but I am yet to find the solution (or a definative answer that the mobo is dead). Can anyone point me in the right direction?
