Default EPIA M10000 - MPEG2 hardware acclr

I've installed Win XP on EPIA M10000 motherboard and installed PowerDVD, but whenever I try to play a DVD, it maxes the CPU, resulting in choppy video. I guess the MPEG2 hardware accelerator is not being used, how do I make this work?
I've installed all drivers from the driver CD.

Thanks

Check the box "hardware accelaration" in Power DVD under Video Tab.

Forgot to mention that I've checked that box - hardware acclerator but the problem still persists. Any clues?

I have a suggestion: use WinDVD. I am convinced the PowerDVD hardware accel function is a fake radio button or something, as it never works. I switched and right away the stuttering stopped.

I am having the same problem running WinXPSP2. I've installed
the latest drivers etc and dvd's still stutter and freeze up. If
anyone could let me know if this is normal or stupid me, I would
really appreciated it.

Becuase i'm under the impression that its only linux that runs
well on epia boards...

I've installed Gentoo Linux on my M10K-Nehemiah system, and the MPEG acceleration works wonderfully with Xine. CPU load seems to bounce around between 30% and 50%.

Ah but that's a highly optimised gentoo system.

Thanks so much for that! Hmmnn Fedora Core 3 hardly tweaked is faster than Gentoo on a M10000...

hi. it's me.

I eventually got winxpsp2 working with about 20-30% cpu
usage-I uninstalled & reinstalled the drivers a few
times.

I'm still not happy though; the 5.1 sound doesn't work - but thats
outside of this topic.

I am interested to see some are people using gentoo and fedora
but not geexbox. Do you favour the MPEG2 hardware accelerator
still/?

And does the 5.1 sound work straight up?

thanks for the dicussion people.

BTW - the drivers for the MII on www.viaembedded.com are out of
date - which is the problem I had, I think via are relying on the
arena too much.
