I had recently purchased a PCI combo card from Ebay (item 180230136328) which had come with both a VIA VT6421A (SATA+PATA)and VIA VT6214L (USB 2.0) chipset.
It had come with a driver disk that apparently contains drivers directly from VIA (albeit licensed for personal use only).
Although I can only assume I have not used the card for non-personal use, I was wondering how I might get:- A new license for commercial use that supercedes the license that came with the drivers
- Or drivers that are licensed for commercial use.
I would also like to know:- What VIA defines as Commercial Use?
- Why does VIA have a "Personal Use Only" clause in the license of the VIA drivers for Windows? (See note)
If I became the sole-proprieter of my own homebased business
with no employees, could I
legally use VIA drivers from VIA's website (which are normally for "personal use only") with the combo card
for my home-based business without needing a commercial license?
Important Notes:
I have noticed with an unrelated chipset manufacturer (Nvidia), that there was no "personal use only" clause in their driver license. [I have an nvidia based card too]

UPDATE:
Sorry for double-posting in another location but I have finally found a more appropriate place in the forums for this
with far better wording and more expanded details.
Find it in the [Tech Knowledge Arena] > [Forum Issues] > [Licensing For VIA Software for Windows]
It even has an Online Poll!
