USB device starts then stops
Hi: I'm running XP Pro + SP1a on an Abit VA6 board, P3/700, 384 MB ram, Gforce video. Very stable system, except........ When I start a USB device, e.g. printer, flash drive, the device starts OK then simply stops or appears to hang. I then, in the case of my Jet Flash drive, get a message saying the source file (which I'm attempting to copy to the flash drive), could not be found. The USB device then fails to be identified and I have to do a reboot for it to be recognised again. In the case of my USB printer HP Deskjet 970), it just stops printing with no error messages. I tried the Via filter patch and latest Hyperion drivers but it didn't help. Would a USB PCI card resolve this or is there just something fundamentally flawed with this motherboard, which admittedly is an older board? Would be glad for any help or insight on this. Thanks.
