As with anything, it depends on the features and specs. You haven't provided any manufacturer brand and model information to research, or what you want to use it for. Some known brands of affordable security/surveillance DVR products include:

AverMedia (AverDigi)

Q-See DPS

Clover Electronics

Lorex (Sentinel/Sylvania)

Swann Communications

Speco Technologies

Advanced Technology Video

Swann rebrands some Lorex and Q-See DVRs (who also probably rebrand some OEM/ODM designs).

Tks for the link tcs, tbh i'm a noob when comes to such recorder, in the first place i dun even knew there's hd on it or has hd connector till i went to browse at some of the device at some of the outlet yesterday then i knew. Sorry for not able to give u any brand cos this is the first time i'm using such recorder. The two image that i've attach are similar recorder which i've seen yesterday

What i need basically is a value for money and not so sexpensive recorder and hd that allow me to monitor it for 24hr, if it comes with software that would be a bonus

Monitor on what and from where? There is a difference between monitoring and recording. Monitor means to display on-screen while recording. Recording is just recording, with or without monitoring.

There are different recording resolutions, single camera vs. multiplexed recording modes (D1 v. CIF), different recording frame rates, different control and event triggering options, remote viewing over network with integrated IP server, playback over PC via USB, PTZ camera support, so on and so forth.

What do you want to record, using what type of camera and how many, in what application? A cheap 4-channel DVR may or may not meet all your basic requirements.

Dedicated Micros does mostly high-end professional class products. Its entry-level products are relatively expensive compared to similarly-featured competing products.

The reason I posted it was because we use their hardware/software in London. The equiptment was second hand though.

Dedicated Micros makes good high-end equipment but their entry-level stuff is equivalent to several competing products that sell for significantly less.

Now that I think of it, Speco Technologies shouldn't be in there, either, due to the very limited entry-level product selection and pricing.
