Without a model number, I couldn't point you to an HP supplied driver. However, you might be able to obtain a driver from Windows Update. You will need to have Windows XP with Service Pack 2.

If you are using an English language version of XP, download and install the Microsoft UAA HDA bus driver from the following link (only for XP with SP2):

http://s89934018.onlinehome.us/DRIVER/kb888111xpsp2.exe

If you are using a non-English version of XP, you will need to use the much larger package from HP that supports multiple languages:

ftp://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp33501-34000/sp33867.exe (55MB)

After restarting the PC, open your browser and go to the Windows Update website. This usually can be accomplished in one click from a shortcut for Windows Update by clicking Start > All Programs > Windows Update.

Select the "Custom" option to check for Windows Updates, not the "Express" option. You may need to install some updated software for the Windows Update feature. If so, download whatever is needed, restart if prompted, then go back to Windows Update website and try again using the "Custom" option.

After a minute or three, you should be presented with updates available for your computer. In the column on the left, you should see a category for "Hardware, Optional" under Select by Type. Click on Hardware to see available driver updates. If there are drivers offered for your audio device, select the update and install it.

If there are none offered, then I'll need a model number before I can locate a driver for you.
